It feels like only a few days ago, school was starting and my Little Man was in Pre-K…and then just the other day, this…
Talk about a WAKE UP CALL!!!! “Get it going, sister! This Little Man is counting on YOU!” This is what the ever-present voices in my head are saying! We live in Vegas where the economy has been up and down at best and unstable at worst. My husband and I have been pretty fortunate to remain mostly employed between gigs and teaching and casino work. But, clearly it’s time to up the ante. Pun intended!
There are several projects in the works and all I need is the moxy and a few bucks to actually do them. I follow several of the hip “woman power” leaders and they are very helpful in the inspiration department. I have been reading their posts religiously everyday, waiting for that “light bulb” moment. OH YES! THAT’S what I should do…well guess what? That “light bulb” moment came when I saw my sweet Little Man in his little cap, graduating from Pre-K and hearing about his accomplishments from his teachers. Hello Mommy! Big boy school is here and you need to be ready. More time working on homework (yup, that’s about to get real), time to volunteer in school and what about extracurricular activities???
I love this picture post and I have shared it with several friends…now I am sharing it with myself. It is always easier to give love and support to others and so much harder to do it for yourself. Well, I have a big changes coming into my life and I can choose to let all the crap get me down or I can choose to believe.
Believe I am stronger, braver, smarter than I think. Believe that God has a plan for me greater than I could have imagined. Believe that simply, I can do whatever it is I want to do. I will wake up tomorrow and let it begin…

[…] It’s rather ironic — the timing, that is. I’ve been planning my departure for a couple of years. I’ve been building my voice and piano studio Chicksinger Studios, LLC steadily upward. I’ve been networking and collaborating with some of the amazing local talent here, singing with my own band, The Special K Project and of course, my all girl trio, Dangerous Curves. I’ve been working on my social media skills and knowledge and blogging and writing work. And, most importantly, much more time is going to my Little Man, who is now in kindergarten. Read about my feelings more in depth here on my Chicksinger blog. […]
