End of the year post and next year’s word and theme…. Seriously, every time #I write those words I am dazed and confused and excited! I can’t believe how time flies even more now than it used to, for sure. I’m excited, as this coming year holds a whole bunch of promise and possibility!
Reading through last year’s “end of year” post, I realize that I truly am moving forward and life is so much fun! The great thing about this year…wait, honestly I have to stop and share something personal. The great thing about this year is that we spent the summer driving to SoCal to hang out…at Keck Medical Center at USC and visit Den’s Dad who received the ultimate gift…a new heart. They are a private family so suffice it to say things are moving along beautifully and despite a few bumps in the road we feel blessed beyond measure. ❤
The Curvy girls, Dangerous Curves vocal #jazz trio of Las #Vegas, had a great year doing our usual round up of fun local and corporate gigs and we had a huge amount of fun this fall! We did our Women in Music show for the city of Las Vegas in a beautiful outdoor venue, the Sammy Davis Jr. Festival Plaza, we performed for the Summerlin Arts Festival and we had a whirlwind trip to Texas to perform for an oil tycoon’s birthday party! It was so much dang fun!! We learned some of his fave songs from the McGuire Sisters (can you believe we didn’t know it?!, lol) the space was absolutely gorgeous and we just had a ball!
Here’s some of that fun…learning to travel and only do carry-ons! How did we do that?!
I have continued my studies with my fabulous coach and mentor had some great opportunities to play and sing as a duo with one of my fave guitarists, Rick Chavez and play with a band at SLS with local celebs and gorgeous talent, Skye Miles and Mikalah Gordon, American Idol alum.
So, what is next year’s word and theme? Coming up with my word was a little more difficult than usual, but it came to me as I was working through a monologue with one of my students. Nothing could be more important for a performer, a singer, an actress, than to be AUTHENTIC. To be completely genuine in my roles as a wife, Mother, performer, writer and teacher. I couldn’t help myself so I googled “authentic” and absolutely LOVE the technical definition and the synonyms! The English major (I had 2 majors in school, Music and English) in me just can’t resist…check out my list of fave webpages at the bottom of this post. 😉
The theme for this year, and new fave hashtag- I’mStrongerThanIThink! Check out my Instagram post for how this one came about..doncha’ love it?! Also gotta work on my health this year. No two ways about it. Nothing major is wrong, just wanna up the ante on cleaning up my skin, energy and juice drinks and diminish some junk-in-the-trunk…😂 come on, girl!
Time to wrap up this post! Here are some of my fave websites that I work for and with and some that just completely inspire me to be a better and more creative human being!
